Dave Aaronoff and The Details "The Devil's In The Details" CD
Review by Rutledge

Poppy Robbie would cream his jeans over this second album from ex-Shod Dave Aaronoff and his fabtastic backing band! Taking their cue from the British invasion-influenced power pop of the 1970's, Dave and the Details dish out straight-forward punkish pop tunes marked by a rootsy pub rock n' roll foundation and appealing vocals that recall a young Elvis Costello.

This album evokes an eternal 1979, where Costello's THIS YEAR'S MODEL and Joe Jackson's LOOK SHARP are forever at the height of fashion and smart, punchy, moddish pop songs are all the rage. The 12 tunes here are tight, energetic, and immediately catchy. And since these songs are so well-crafted and played with such infectious flair, you won't mind that this sort of thing has "been done" a million times before. Timeless melody never goes out of style, Buster!

Those of you who wish that new wave's Angry Young Men had never stopped writing fun, simple, hooky pop tunes can take heart in the existence of bands like Dave & the Details.
